Stephanie Graczyk Obituary

Stephanie Graczyk passed away peacefully March 29, 2024, at the age of 77.  She was born in Evanston, Illinois to Stan and Wanda DeCaluwe.

As the oldest child, Stephanie was a born leader. She was the first vice president of the St. Ignatius Teenage Club responsible for fundraising, helping colleagues with homework, and putting on annual plays for the community.

Stephanie attended Loyola University and was the youngest member of the French National Honor Society to spend a year studying abroad at the University of Nice, immersing herself in the French culture and language. When she returned home, she married her sweetheart of 55 years, Michael Andrew Graczyk, in February of 1969.

Their family grew with the birth of their two children, Jennifer, and Scott. While the children were young and still in school, Stephanie was always involved, regularly volunteered for school activities, and was President of the Parent Teacher Organization.

Continuing her love for education and learning, Stephanie graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago, Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982.

She dove into the Real Estate business in 1988 and became a Realtor and Vice President of Sales before retiring.

Stephanie loved unconditionally and blessed her family with a wonderful home-life. She was a fabulous cook for many years and influenced both of her children to embrace the joy of cooking. A talented seamstress, Stephanie could sew just about anything you could dream of. Our home felt warm and inviting because of her presence and her amazing eye for interior design.

Before her onset of Parkinson's, Stephanie was very active, always out and about and on the move. She enjoyed hiking, taking long brisk walks through the neighborhood, and weekend fishing trips with her friends.

Stephanie drew people together with her laughter, her wonderful sense of humor, and could brighten up any room with her smile. Friendship, loyalty, and love for life were just a few of her best attributes.

We will miss her dearly.

Stephanie Graczyk beloved wife of Michael Graczyk. Much loved mother of Jennifer Schneller and Scott Graczyk (Dawn). Adored Grandmother of Michael and Carley. Cherished Daughter of Wanda DeCaluwe and the late Stanley DeCaluwe. Dear sister of Susan, Dan (Stephanie), Stan (Robin), and James (Margaret). Fondly remembered by her extended family and friends.
