Samuel Gilbert DeFelice Obituary

Samuel (Sam) DeFelice, of Monument, passed away at home after a long illness on June 26, 2025.  Sam was born on February 18th, 1950, in San Acacio, Colorado to Giovanni (John) DeFelice Chacon and Dolores (Garcia) Chacon. He was a fifth generation Colorado native and very proud of his Italian heritage.

Sam was raised on his family’s ranch in San Acacio and later moved with his family to Colorado Springs where he graduated from Palmer High School in 1968.  He later moved to Denver where he raised his children, eventually moving them to Monument.

He married his wife Connie in June of 1993 and built their home with his own hands. They lived there and held their love of 32 years until his passing.

Sam loved his community and spent a lot of time volunteering.  He was past president of the Palmer Lake Historical Society and Legacy Sertoma. He was also past president of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Son’s of Italy. A red apron hangs in his office with the words “Monument Hill Sertoma Top Bell Ringer for Salvation Army 2004” He never did anything halfway. His life was filled with projects and hobbies. He wasn’t afraid of hard work.  He never knew a stranger and had numerous stories to tell.  There was never a dull moment in his full life.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Chacon and his sisters Naomi Martinez, Lorraine Dagnall, Georgia Coon, and Loretta Chacon.

He is survived by his wife Connie, daughter Wendy (Jimmy) DeFelice-Teegardin of Colorado, son Samuel DeFelice Jr. of Arizona, grandson Trenton Teegardin of Oregon, brother Armand (Don) DeFelice and sisters Olivia Guerrero and Eva Berner of Colorado as well as many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. He also left behind his much-loved dogs Dillinger and Dino.

Sam will be dearly missed and forever loved.
