Ronald Douglass Obituary

Ronald "Gray Eagle" Douglass, 82, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on December 8, 1943, in Long Beach, California, Ron lived a life defined by service, faith, and devotion to his family.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Ron served as a radio operator, demonstrating his commitment to his country early in life. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished 22-year career with the Los Angeles Police Department. Rising to the rank of Detective II in the Criminal Conspiracy Section, Ron specialized in investigating bombings and the placement of incendiary devices—work that required courage and precision. He also played an instrumental role in establishing the department’s underwater dive unit, contributing to specialized investigative and rescue operations that enhanced public safety.

Ron was a devoted born-again Christian whose faith was central to his life. As a cherished member of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, he found joy and purpose in fellowship with others and deepened his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His unwavering faith inspired those around him and provided comfort throughout his life.

Beyond his professional achievements and spiritual devotion, Ron had a profound love for the outdoors. He found peace and adventure in fishing and backpacking trips that connected him to nature’s beauty. A self-taught woodworker with remarkable skill, he crafted beautiful furniture that reflected both artistry and care. These creations remain as tangible reminders of his talent and dedication.

Above all else, Ron cherished his family. He is survived by Barbara, his beloved wife of 59 years; their daughter Christina; son-in-law Christopher; and grandchildren Tyler and Camryn. His love for them was boundless, and he took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments

Ron’s legacy is one of service, creativity, faith, and love—a life well-lived that touched countless others. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him as they celebrate the remarkable man he was.
