Roberta Rose (Samas) Kulas Obituary

Roberta “Bobbi” Rose Kulas (Druckenmiller) passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 87. Bobbi was born on November 11, 1938, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Dorothy and Paul Samas. She grew up in Duluth, a place she loved deeply and spoke of often, sharing stories of her adventures there throughout her life. She was one of four children and is preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Truitt, and survived by her brothers, Kenneth and Leon Kulas.

In 1959, Roberta married Richard Druckenmiller. During their marriage, they traveled with the military and welcomed six daughters: Pamela Elaine(deceased), Kim Diane (deceased), Laura Helene (deceased), Rebecca Annette, (husband Donovan Gibbens), Marian Leigh Daugherty, and Judith Rose. After 15 years of marriage, Roberta and Richard divorced, and Bobbi went on to raise her daughters as a single mother—an accomplishment she conducted with resilience, determination, and love.

Bobbi worked full-time as a realtor and broker, building a successful career while supporting her family. Even in retirement, she remained active, later working at a cable company and Sam’s Warehouse. Service to others was a constant in her life. She volunteered for TESSA, supporting victims of domestic and sexual violence, and gave her time to Habitat for Humanity/ReStore.

Family was at the center of Bobbi’s world. She loved frequent gatherings, potlucks, and time spent together, with conversation, laughter, and a cup of coffee. She had a deep love for gardening and nurturing houseplants, and she found joy in dancing, yoga, reading, writing, thrift shopping and sharing stories. Known for her independence and strong will, Bobbi lived life on her own terms.

Roberta is survived by her three daughters, Becky Gibbens, Marian Daugherty, and Judy Rose; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy. These include: April (Andy) VanRuler; Rachel (Mike) Havens and their children Relina and Dylan; Zachary (Mindy) Blake; Tyler (Chelsea) Blake and their children Brooklyn and Wyatt; Jenna Blake; Jessica (Tyler) Entrekin and their children Corrie Beth, Peter, and Jack; Ryan (Anna-Beth) Gibbens; Tia Gibbens; Cory (Tina) Daugherty and their children Kalel, Ionna, and Ariah; Ashley Daugherty; Aerial (Marcus) Ledet and their children Dhani,  Zahir, Jeriah and Selah; David Daugherty; and Maygen Daugherty. She is also survived by sons-in-laws Mike Blake, Kenneth Daugherty, James Polhemus, extended family members, and many beloved friends.

Roberta “Bobbi” Kulas will be remembered for her strength, generosity, independence, and the deep love she held for her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she so proudly built.
