Randall Dawson Obituary

Randall Scott Dawson passed away at home on October 26, 2022, after his lengthy battle with kidney cancer. He grew up in Kauai, Hawaii, playing tennis and football, and joined the Navy after graduating from high school.

He proudly served on active duty for over 20 years. He traveled extensively during his service, solidifying his love for geography, which he pursued by earning a master's degree from West Virginia University.

He settled in Colorado, and became an instructor of geography at the Community College of Denver and Colorado State University, where he inspired and motivated his students.

Randall was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed skiing, riding ATVs, horseback riding, and fishing. He loved college football, and was often underestimated when he played poker.

He was also a private pilot, and relished the freedom and adventure of flying. He was a devoted coach for Little League and cherished the opportunity to guide and mentor young athletes.

Randall will be greatly missed by Mary Kelly, and his two favorite nieces, Danika Jaramillo and Kierra Thompson. He was the beloved brother of Theresa Thompson, and son of James Leroy Dawson and Ruby Verlene Dawson, who predeceased him.  Randall's kind heart, generous spirit, and infectious laughter will be remembered by all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be held in his honor. Donations can be made to Shriners Hospital or the Little League organization is Randall's memory.
