Pauline Montano Sanchez, 97, died peacefully on July 17 th 2024 at her home in Colorado Springs
Colorado, surrounded by many of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was
born June 29 th 1927 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Lucio and Josefita Garcia.
Pauline worked as a waitress for 65 years and loved her occupation and community. She was an
active member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Liberal, KS and held the position of
President of the Women’s Guadalupe Club for many years. She was also active in other Catholic
parishes throughout her life. She enjoyed dancing, was very social and had countless friends.
Her sense of humor and caring nature were known and beloved by many. She was a wonderful
mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Fadie Montano, her second mother
Anifa Garcia, brothers Jose, Mark (Eloy), Victor, and Gilbert (Beto) Garcia, her grandson Robert
Anthony Montano, former husband Mike Montano, and husband Tony Sanchez.
She is survived by her five sons and their wives; Michael & Veloy, Ruben & Shirley, Robert &
Martha, Richard & Melissa, and Charlie & Patty. She is also survived by her daughter Beatrice
and her husband Alex Martinez, brother Horacio (Lacho) Garcia and sisters Poncy Napier, Nolita
Anaya and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A mass celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, August 10th, at the St. Anne's Catholic
Church in Tucumcari NM. A rosary service will begin at 10:15 followed by the Mass at 11:00.
Lunch will be served at Hammon Hall afterward.
