Pamela anne Asbury-Smith Obituary

Asbury-Smith, Pamela has passed beyond the veil to life's last great adventure.

Preceded by parents Ruby McNatt Smith and Frank Asbury Smith, brother "Nick" Smith, and son Erik VanSteenis.

Left to remember her are daughters Kristen Luevanos (Jorge), and Holli VanSteenis (Bruce Winchester); Six Grandchildren; Erik Bishop, Keana Johnson, Diego Luevanos, Kiernan Winchester, Madigan Winchester, and Gavan Winchester.

Pamela was immensely proud of the accomplishments of her two daughters, their wonderful husbands, and their children. She was always grateful to have survived three cancers, and to have had four careers: Motherhood, law enforcement civilian and attending the FBI Academy; graduating with her college degree in anthropology at the age of 52; working archaeological projects on all Hawaiian islands, including Kaho'olawe during the ordnance clean-up project, and archaeological projects in NM, California and AZ; then fulfilling her ambition to be a writer, publishing articles and books. Having been active in writers groups in Oregon, Hawaii, and Arizona, Pamela was a member of the national organizations of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America.

Earlier in her life, Pamela was among the first docents at Meadowbrook Hall, Rochester, Michigan. Among her later volunteer activities, she performed in a children's play at Oahu's Sea Life Park, and was a hostess for Historic Hawaii Foundation events. Upon relocating to AZ, Pamela became a docent at Pima Air & Space Museum for ten years, and counts that amongst her favorites. She also was a board member of AZ Friends of Tibet for many years. Finally, as a volunteer usher at Centennial Hall she had the opportunity to interact with patrons and enjoy the many concerts and performances.

In lieu of floral remembrances, Pamela would like donations to be made to John S Stewart VEW Post 1 in Denver, or YOTO, Youth On Their Own.
