Jeanne Marie Ewald, 69, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away at 8:35 PM on September 7th, 2025, at home under the care of her loving husband, after a long two-year battle with lung cancer.

Jeanne was born March 21st, 1956, in Washington, Missouri, the daughter of Marriane (Frick) Symes and Clifford Symes.  She grew up in Wright City, Missouri and continued to maintain lifelong friendships with schoolmates and neighbors.  Jeanne graduated from Wright City High School in 1974, then went on to the University of Missouri in Columbia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Education as well as a Master of Education degree.  In addition to her degrees, she was very proud of her four years in Marching MIZZOU.  

Jeanne married Terrence Lee Ewald on August 5th, 1978, in Wright City, Missouri, with Reverend H. Ring officiating.  Although Jeanne and Terry never had children of their own, Jeanne loved the children she went on to teach and she particularly loved the children of her best friends Patricia Madigan and Rebecca Kessler.  Jeanne and Terry had 47 amazing years together traveling the world during Terry’s time in the Navy as well as many vacations over the course of their marriage.  Their favorite destination ended up being Paris which they visited several times.

Remaining to cherish Jeanne’s memory are spouse, Terry Ewald; cousins on her mother’s side including Katie McDowell, Miriam Lohman, Robert Taylor Frick, Cherie Youse, Susan Bremmer, Marla Germann, and William Frick and on her father’s side including Don Koehler, Fred Symes, Martha Skinner, Judy Hagerman, Dave Symes, Ed Symes, JoLayne Woodword, Vicky Huber, Brenda Mayfield and Kim Symes; lifelong friends Patricia Madigan, Rebecca Kessler, Sam Park, Tyrone Woolfolk; the ladies in the group in Colorado Springs who met for walks and lunches every Monday; and the many others whose lives she touched.

No visitation or services are planned.  No formal memorial has been set up, but for those who wish to donate, the suggested charity is the American Lung Association.
