Major General Jane C. Rohr, United States Air Force retired, passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer, on January 21, 2026, in Monument, Colorado surrounded by her family, ready to walk with Christ. Born on May 29, 1956, in Atlanta, Georgia, she lived a life marked by service, leadership, and wholehearted joy in the things she loved.


Maj. Gen. Rohr dedicated 36 years to the United States Air Force, rising through the ranks with distinction and earning the respect of all who served alongside her. Her career reflected unwavering commitment, steady integrity, and a deep belief in the mission and people of the Air Force.


She graduated from the University of Tennessee, a place she often credited with shaping her early path and instilling the confidence that carried her into military service. Outside her uniform, Jane embraced a wide range of passions. She loved to sew, creating pieces that reflected her creativity and care, from Halloween costumes, entire outfits, ballroom dance attire and even her daughter’s wedding dress. She found joy in competitive ballroom dancing & spent many years as an avid horsewoman. Girl Scout leader, trumpet player, mentor, therapist, trusted colleague, leader, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, Nana – just to name a few of her various roles in life.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Myrtle Cochran of Ooltewah, TN. She is survived by her husband, Eric Mortenson; daughters Lauren Barnette (Luke Barnette) & Brittany Rohr; her grandchildren, Olivia & Joshua Barnette and Enzo Upton; her sister & brother Judy Turner (Frank Turner) & Mark Cochran (Dana Cochran); many nieces & nephews, step-children & step grandchildren.


Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the service she rendered to her country, and the example she set through a life well lived.
