Hildegard was born on August 3, 1942 in Augsburg, Germany. She eventually met and married her husband while he was stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany, and she immigrated to Rochester, New York shortly thereafter. They built a beautiful life and family after spending time on both coasts - eventually relocating to California in 1974. While in California, Hilde spent 30+ years working in a middle school cafeteria and creating lasting relationships with students, staff and other members of the community. Outside of work, Hildegard enjoyed music, travel, going to the casinos and sharing meals with the ones she loved.
Above all else, Hildegard cherished and nurtured her family. She played an active role in her children and grandchildren's athletics by serving as a team mom and attending every game. She lovingly raised her three children and two of her grandchildren, while also serving as the primary caregiver for her mother-in-law until her passing at 102 years old. She created a welcoming home and collected many adopted "children", "grandchildren", and "granddogs", along the way, always ensuring they were taken care of and well -fed. She had incredible patience and kindness, and always made time to help others.
Her legacy will carry on forever those whom she loved by always reminding that we should "be good to each other"
