Celebrating the Life of Gifford K. Murray
Gifford Keith Murray was born in Munich, Germany on February 10, 1952 to William Marvin Murray &
Atrelle Smith Murray. His father was in the Air Force and stationed in Munich at that time. Soon after he
was born the family moved back to the U.S. They were stationed in numerous places over the years
(Goose Bay, Labrador; Clovis, New Mexico; Itazuki, Japan and Hampton, Virginia). Giff graduated from
Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, VA. He then went on to college at Texas Tech University in
Lubbock, TX., where he graduated with a business degree. Always loving soccer, he played on the
Texas Tech Soccer Team. He met Deborah, his wife of nearly 44 years, on November 2, 1977, in
Lubbock, TX. They married on January 27, 1982.
Giff was an all-around athlete and loved and was good at almost any sport. He especially loved
GOLF, surfing, water skiing (including barefoot skiing), snow skiing and soccer. Giff was a Santa Fe
Railroad Engineer in Lubbock, TX and a Custom Clothier in Albuquerque, NM. He and his family moved
to beautiful Colorado in October of 1997, where his parents resided. In Colorado he started his own
business “Murray Warranty” (office furniture warranty repair). After becoming “empty nesters” Giff and
Deborah loved to travel and saw many countries and enjoyed travel in their own beautiful United States
of America.
Giff lived with Parkinson’s Disease for 28 years and in 2010 he went on Railroad Disability. He had a
great attitude with and about his disease and always quoted his brother Scott, who had passed away
from cancer, “It is just a damn inconvenience”. Giff accepted Christ in 2007 and was baptized February
28, 2010 - what a day of rejoicing for all his friends & family!!! His favorite past times were just putzing
around the property and being outside whenever he could. He loved to track animals, change the
landscape and build quirky and imaginative things. He was a memorabilia lover and a knowledgeable
Historian.
Giff & Deborah have 3 children: Nicholas Dane Murray (Carolyn), Hillary Lauren Banks (Daniel) and
Robert William Murray (Lauren). Giff is survived by his wife, Deborah and all of his children and 6
grandchildren (Nali Murray, Luma Murray, Wilder Murray, Willa Banks, Alma Banks and Wade Murray).
He is also survived by his brother Harry (Kipp) Edward Murray (Gwen) and many nieces & nephews.
Giff was pre-deceased by his parents William M. Murray & Atrelle S. Murray; and his two brothers
Mark Murray & William Scott Murray (Dianne).
Giff was a kind, fun-loving and good-humored guy. EVERYBODY loved Giff !!! Giff and his beautiful
& fun personality will be missed by many! See you in Heaven Spiffy-Giffy.
Giff will be laid to rest at Monument Cemetery, on Beacon Light Road, Monument, CO.
