It is with heavy heart that we announce the death of our dad David Monroe Tousey, 82, on the
evening of February 9, 2025. He was surrounded by his 2 children, Ben Tousey and Anna
Tousey-Johnson.
David was born in Wisconsin to parents, Gearson “Snooks” Tousey and Anna Gretchen Miller,
on February 20, 1942. The family moved to Olney MT in 1954 from WI and became loggers in
the Flathead Valley of MT. David was 22 when his first son Ben was born, followed by daughter
Anna and youngest child Brian. David was taking flying lessons in 1967 while his brother Nick
was operating Osprey Sport Parachute Club, a skydiving club in Kalispell MT. The two brothers
would go in on this new venture together. Eventually, Kalispell airport closed to skydiving, and in
the late 1970’s property was purchased out by Marion MT to expand with an air strip, a drop
zone, restaurant, and bar. Throughout David’s life, he was a logger, a pilot, a crop duster,
skydiver, construction worker, and many more trades. He was adventurous and loved working
with his hands. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. There was great joy around
a grand fire and music being sung and played. His life was filled with many friends. David is
preceded in death by his parents, Snooks and Anna Tousey, son, Brian, son-in-law Brendan
Johnson, brothers Buck, and Neil Creighton. He is survived by his brother Nick (Cathy) Tousey,
sisters-in-law Sharon Tousey, and Ellen Creighton. Also, many nieces and nephews.
There will be an eventual announcement for a celebration of life to follow in MT. This will occur
in the late spring/early summer.
