Obituary for Connie Jo Hendrickson (February 21, 1946 — June 17, 2025)
It is with great sadness, we the family of Connie Jo Hendrickson, announce that she went to be
with her Lord and Savior on June 17, 2025, in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born on
February 21, 1946, in Hillsboro, KS to Francis and Martha Groening, who preceded her in death
along with her husband Donald Hendrickson and her sister Gala Groening.
Connie’s life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and friends, and her profound
faith. She is survived by her loving sister Sheryl McDaniel (Don), her three children: Andrea
Tapp (Tom), Melissa Miller (Chris) and Jeremy Hendrickson (Melissa), who together will forever
carry her spirit in their hearts. Connie's legacy lives on through her six beautiful grandchildren:
Carter Hendrickson, Evan Tapp, Makenna Hendrickson, Madelyn Miller, CJ Miller, and Braelyn
Hendrickson, each of whom she adored and supported in their various passions.
On July 29, 1972 Connie was united in marriage to Don Hendrickson at the Hillsboro Mennonite
Brethren Church in KS. Connie attended Tabor College for 1 year, Wichita Business College for
2 years and then moved to New Hope, MN where she lived with her Uncle George and Aunt
Lydia until she found an apartment. She enjoyed a fulfilling career, working at the Soo Line in
Minneapolis and later at the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, WI, and the Albert Lea Clinic in
Albert Lea, MN. Connie moved back to Hillsboro, KS with Don where she devoted a lot of time
to care for her dad, Francis Groening. She worked at Vogt's Hometown Market in customer
service, played piano at different schools, gave piano lessons and had recitals for her students.
But it was not just her professional life that brought her joy; Connie was a beacon of light in her
community, known for her love of music and her faith. She had been playing the piano since the
age of seven, sharing her piano and organist talents in various churches throughout her life.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kasson, MN.
Her love for Jesus was evident in everything she did, from her music to her storytelling. Connie
was known for her wonderful sense of humor, often entertaining friends and family with jokes
and stories about her children. She was particularly proud of her grandchildren’s achievements
and delighted in cheering them on at every event. Whether it was Carter’s baseball games,
Evan’s RC Racing triumphs, Makenna’s beautiful photography, Maddie’s love for dancing and
her dogs, CJ’s skiing adventures, 4-wheeling and basketball, or Braelyn’s volleyball matches,
Connie’s support was unwavering and filled with love.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the countless doctors, nurses, and
medical staff who provided comfort and care to Connie during her time of need. Your kindness
and dedication will always be remembered.
Connie Jo Hendrickson will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will forever cherish
her memory and the joy she brought into their lives. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on
August 2nd in Blooming Prairie, MN at Prairie Manor Care Center @ 12 pm.
