Christina Weber Obituary

Christina Elizabeth Weber LTC(ret) AN

CRNA BSN MSN

Christina Elizabeth (Riley) Weber passed away peacefully Sunday March 27, 2022 after courageously living with dedifferentiated endometrial cancer for three years. She lived a varied and full life as wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, nurse, soldier, and servant of her church. She brought the same intense dedication, loyalty, devotion, and unwavering love to each of those roles. She will be missed dearly. She passed in the comfort of her home in Monument, CO, surrounded by family and supported by hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Riley and Martha (Wall) Riley, and her beloved brother, Joseph “Joey” Riley Jr. She leaves behind her devoted husband Lynn Edward Weber, her son Justin Anderson-Weber and daughter-in-law Nancy Anderson-Weber, stepson Ryan Weber, granddaughter Mia Weber, and her sisters Catherine “Katie” (Riley) Hyer and Sue (Riley) Johnson.

Christina was born February 15, 1951 in Salisbury, NC. She attended college at Appalachian State and graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Nursing. She was the president of the Kappa Delta sorority. No matter where life took her, she always celebrated her Carolina Tar Heel roots.

She entered the Army as a 1LT in the Nurse Corps, where her first working assignment was on the VIP ward at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Her goal was to get to the operating room, and she was soon selected to attend the Army’s Operating Room School for Nurses at the Presidio in San Francisco. She then had a tour in the OR at Madigan AMC in Washington state. She was among the rare few selected to attend the master’s level program in Anesthesiology for Army Nurse Corps Officers at Ft. Sam Houston and at Tripler AMC in Hawai’i. Her first assignment as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) was at Ft. Ord, CA.

Fate, the Army, and a little nudge from God brought Chris and Lynn together in Monterey, CA.  In October 1983, she married her husband Lynn at Christ the King Chapel on the Naval Post Graduate School campus. Next they were off to Ft. Gordon, GA and Eisenhower AMC where their son, Justin, was born in November 1986. Chris graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Nursing in 1988. She then joined Lynn in Stuttgart, Germany where she was with the Anesthesia Department at the Army’s 5th General Hospital in Bad Cannstatt. She served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, where she was the chief of the anesthesia department for the Combat Support Hospital serving the 1st Infantry Division. The family made their forever home in Monument, CO later in 1991.

After 22 years of service, she retired from the Army while serving in the anesthesia department at Fitzsimons AMC in Denver. For the next 10 years she provided anesthesia through an anesthesia services partnership primarily working in Denver and Colorado Springs. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, visiting family, and serving her church, where she wore a number of hats: choir member, kitchen manager, co-founder and leader of the children’s puppet ministry, and chairman of the mission committee.

Christina loved the beach, tending her flower gardens, making crafts and cards, North Carolina barbeque, rooting for her and her friends’ and family members’ favorite sports teams (particularly the UNC Tar Heels, Army, the Iowa State Cyclones, and the Denver Broncos), and her cocker spaniels Callie, Riley, and Evie.
