Barbara Jean (Lund) Slocum Obituary

Barbara Jean Slocum (Bobbie) passed away in Colorado Springs on Oct 2, 2025,
weeks shy of her 87 th birthday from the effects of lewey body dementia. She was born
on Oct 30,1938 to Duane and Myrle Lund and lived what she referred to as an “idyllic
childhood” in Corona, CA.
While she was still in high school, she met a sailor named Duane Slocum or “Dee” as
he was called, who was stationed in Corona. They were married in November of her
senior year. He soon shipped off to Japan while she stayed behind to finish her
education. She attended senior prom with her brother. Bobbie was able to join Dee in
Japan soon after graduation and they were married for 67 years before his passing in
2024.
Her family was her greatest joy, but she was also an artist, writer and sculptor. She
loved traveling, dogs, gardening, eating out, Sees Candy and shopping. She never met
a gift shop she didn’t like.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane, sons Jay Alan and
Jason Trent and brother Dewie. She is survived by her daughters Terri (Dave)
Petersen, Tami (Scott) Hollister and Troy (Lisa)Slocum along with 20 grandchildren and
47 great grandchildren.
